I can’t tell you how excited I am that the first crochet retreat of the year is happening on Wednesday this week.
Now that all the festive season is packed away we really need something to look forward to don’t we?
Shelves were looking a bit gappy in the Teeny Tiny shop so I’m pleased to say that I’ve been putting that right with a nice fat order from Stylecraft yarns. We are all stocked up for your new projects.
Some boring jobs have to be done too so the conservatory carpet has been having a clean today.
I much prefer the creative tasks I have to say. So today I’ve also been making some pretty new cloths for the tables. This cherry fabric is really beautiful and a joy to work with.
Of course David and I have been discussing the menus, a very important part of the retreat days. It’s that time of year when we all feel a bit stuffed with goodies. We’ll aim for something not too rich but there have to be treats too or there may be a riot!
As we have a gluten free guest this time I’ll be making this scrummy tea bread with GF flour.
We will serve it with lashings of English butter but as it’s a fat free recipe you can choose to have it without if you are feeling virtuous.
Our hens are laying well so the eggs will be home laid.
The recipe is one of grandma’s. Here it is in her own hand if you fancy trying it? In ounces of course. I always love connecting with the past generations like this don’t you?
So there’s not long to wait now. See you on Wednesday folks. Bring your projects old and new and enjoy some quality ‘me’ time with good friends by the log fire.
Thanks for visiting me here in crochet heaven. I would love you to leave a comment if you can before you go.
