Hello everyone. This is just a little bit about our charity coffee mornings.
Crochet, knitting, cross stitch, it doesn’t matter what your preference is you will be welcome to come along to one of our monthly charity coffee mornings.
I started these as a winter activity but it seems that they are going to carry on. So one Monday of most months we use our cosy crochet lounge to host this charity event. I wish I could say it’s always the same Monday of the month but it has proved impossible to stick to that. Instead I’ll put it on the website dates and also remind everyone on Facebook.
This was an outing to a local Nature reserve cafe which came about directly from friendships formed on coffee morning days.
The format is very simple. I provide some good homemade cake or scones, plus a couple of brews and we enjoy some creative time together, usually around the log burner.
David gets let out of the kitchen on coffee morning days as there is no lunch to prepare. I love it when the crochet room comes to life with warmth and friendship and that’s why we need you to join in.
We open the doors about ten and before you know it a whole morning has passed and it’s time to stop, about two o’clock. Anyone local enough is welcome and we’ve also had people who are holidaying in the area which is wonderful.
How else can we tempt you? The Teeny Tiny shop will be open of course, brimming with Stylecraft Special dk, Batik and a few others. The main stock is the Special though, perfect rainbow colours for designing your next project, and all at very reasonable prices.
There is no charge for these events but we do ask for a small donation to charity. We are raising funds for Bowel Cancer UK. It might not sound a very attractive cause but it’s one very close to our family with the loss of our daughter Jen to this terrible disease in 2014.
Sometimes it’s hard to remember that she is no longer with us, such a seemingly healthy and very active person. Unfortunately it can happen to anyone but you never think it will be your family. Here’s Jen enjoying a visit to the 2012 Olympics in London.
I’m very happy to announce that I’ve sent off £250 to the charity today, collected over the winter months. I really want to thank everyone for their kindness and generosity in contributing to this total.
From bad things good things can come. Who would have known that Escape to the Crochet would come into our lives, bringing such great friendship and healing?
See you soon,
